Lisa Mattson - Viola/Chamber Music

Lisa Mattson, a native of Philadelphia, PA, began playing the viola in fourth grade as part of a public school music program. She attended Duke University where she was recipient of the A. J. Fletcher Performance Scholarship and completed her Bachelor of Music degree at The Juilliard School where she received the Victor Herbert Scholarship. While a student at Juilliard, Lisa studied chamber music with the Juilliard String Quartet and was selected to participate in the Juilliard Quartet Seminar. Lisa earned her Master of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Heidi Castleman. Lisa is currently Assistant Principal Viola with The Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, a position she has held for fifteen years. In addition, she has performed with the Akron Symphony, the Youngstown Symphony and the Lancaster Festival Orchestra and participated in the Blossom Festival and the Music Academy of the West. Always active as a teacher as well as a performer, Lisa maintains a viola studio in Naples, FL and is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of America. Since 2002 she has been on the faculty of the Community School of Naples teaching strings.
